I am going to take this year to go under the clutter. This is a daunting task. I have 2 dogs, a teenage daughter, 2 grown sons (1 who is going through a painful divorce right now), a grandson and a husband. I live 4 doors down the street from my parents and 2 blocks from my in-laws. Believe me, this is not how I planned it! Somehow, these relationships are intertwined with the clutter; I just haven't figured it out yet. I guess it is all about responsibility.
There are basically 12 rooms in my house. My plan is to choose a room and take one month for each room to de-clutter it and put it in order, decorate, repair and refurbish. Along with each room, I plan to focus on breaking a bad habit, or create good new ones, each month. I would like to end my year with my own mission statement or shimmer manifesto. That's what I'll call it. "The Shimmer Manifesto".
Since there are some rooms that are seen more often when people first enter my home, those are the ones I will start with. In the same way, my OBVIOUS flaws are the ones that I should deal with accordingly as well.
I plan on using this last week of September to create a plan of action. Then, beginning October 1, 2009... "Operation Shimmer"!
